W. Stephen Phillips, MD, is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon who was trained in Houston by pioneering heart surgeon Denton Cooley, MD. He has practiced heart surgery at UT Health Tyler since 1997. Dr. Phillips' practice has evolved, since arriving in Tyler, to a practice that focuses solely on the surgical treatment of heart disease.
Dr. Phillips is devoted to providing excellent care to his patients, whether on the operating room table, or during their recovery. "Cardiac surgery is complex, with each ase providing a wide variety of potential obstacles. Though the stakes are often high, there is nothing more satisfying than achieving a positive outcome."
Dr. Phillips is employed as a clinical faculty physician at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler under the UT Tyler School of Medicine.
