Brandi Pate, RN, FNP-C, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner at UT Health East Texas Physicians Tyler Junior College Clinic. “My mother attended nursing school when I was in high school, and I realized being a nurse was my heart’s desire. I furthered my education to become a nurse practitioner so I could help clients make educated healthcare decisions and healthy lifestyle choices. It’s allowed me to provide the community with empathetic, patient-centered care.”
Pate said being a nurse practitioner requires compassion and the ability to be a mentor, counselor, educator and consultant. She enjoys working with clients within the same family because it can help in early detection of hereditary diseases. “One of the most satisfying things to me about being a nurse practitioner is the ability to fully care for a patient and develop treatment plans in partnership with them.”
Pate earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington and her master’s degree in nursing from Walden University in Minneapolis.
