Andrew Mellon, MD, is an adult psychiatrist at UT Health East Texas Physicians at North Campus Tyler. He started his career as a combat medic in the United States Army where he completed a tour in Iraq. “This experience allowed me the value of continuing to pursue the healing arts, focusing on psychiatry because the field is obviously in need of more healthcare professionals.”
Research is very important to Dr. Mellon, and he spends time continually working to stay up-to-date on psychiatric research. “Mental healthcare is important. I strive to maintain the highest level of care using current best practices to help my patients heal, and those practices may change over time following evidence-based research.”
When not seeing patients, Dr. Mellon enjoys spending time outdoors, learning new skills and exercising daily.
