Srikar Mapakshi, MD, is a gastroenterologist at UT Health East Texas Physicians in Athens. His goal as a physician is to provide patient-centered, evidence-based healthcare by educating his patients and helping them make informed decisions.
The combination of continuity of care and procedural aspects drew Dr. Mapakshi toward gastroenterology (GI). “I am really interested in general GI including esophageal, intestinal and colonic diseases, performing upper endoscopies and colonoscopies to treat various diseases. I am also focused on cancer prevention, particularly on increasing awareness about colon cancer.”
When not seeing patients, Dr. Mapakshi enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
Dr. Mapakshi is employed as a clinical faculty physician at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler under the UT Tyler School of Medicine.
