Juan Garrido, MD, is an internal medicine physician at UT Health East Texas Physicians on Fifth Street in Tyler. He chose to become a doctor as a way to combine his two passions--science and altruism. “Medicine for me goes beyond a career. It is a way to connect with the community and give support to people in need.
Communication is very important to Dr. Garrido. “I make sure my patients understand every detail of their condition. I take the time to explain and answer all questions they may have. I also am a big advocate in caring for the family of my patients, because they play an important role in the care of their loved ones.
“Internal medicine is comprehensive care. I enjoy it because it is like a puzzle, you have to pay attention to every single detail so you can solve it. Humans are a compound of elements and I like to analyze all the elements to find a solution.”
Dr. Garrido is fluent in English and Spanish. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, enjoying new foods, teaching and playing guitar.
Dr. Garrido is employed as a clinical faculty physician at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler under the UT Tyler School of Medicine.
