James Davis, DO, is a pediatrician at UT Health East Texas Physicians on Fifth Street in Tyler. He grew up in South Africa, where he decided to pursue medicine as a means to combine his love for science with his passion of helping others.
Dr. Davis decided to specialize in pediatrics and focus on community intervention and outreach after his own experiences as a young parent supporting his family using SNAP, WIC and Medicaid. “As a pediatrician, I care for children from birth, in the newborn nursery, through their different stages of development, until their first steps into adulthood.”
Additionally, as a doctor of osteopathic medicine Dr. Davis has additional training in osteopathic manipulative therapy, which is another set of tools that he uses in diagnosing illnesses and serves as a means of musculoskeletal therapy.
Dr. Davis speaks fluent English and Afrikaans. When not seeing patients, he enjoys gardening, cycling, playing music, hiking, archery, barbequing and smoking food.
Dr. Davis is employed as a clinical faculty physician at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler under the UT Tyler School of Medicine.
