UT Health East Texas Physicians North Campus Tyler - Occupational Medicine
Monday - Friday
8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Dr. Lerner is committed to the field of preventive medicine both as an occupational health provider and as a correctional medicine physician, integrating public health principles to optimize well-being and prevent illness through early intervention and education. Dr. Lerner was drawn to healthcare by a passion for improving community health and addressing occupational health challenges. He uses evidence-based medicine to enhance patient care and community health, addressing the needs of diverse sectors including the wounded and the incarcerated.
After completing two years of primary care post-doctoral training, Dr. Lerner opted to switch specialties, first providing medical care in Floridian prisons for approximately a year, then completing residency in Occupational and Environmental Medicine in Tyler. He now combines all these facets of training and experience in his present work.
Outside medicine, Dr. Lerner is a practicing Catholic, a father of four, directs sacred music at his local parish and co-founded and leads a PE and marriage prep/enrichment class called Theology of Marriage and Dance, leaning upon his experience in the Baylor University Ballroom Dance Society and continued workshops and social dance events, as well as his wife's training in Catholic Theology.
Dr. Lerner is employed as a clinical faculty physician at The University of Texas at Tyler Health Science Center under the UT Tyler School of Medicine.
